Nut Lock fittings are a fast and simple solution to use when building your above-ground irrigation system. Simply place the Nut Lock collar onto your pipe and firmly push the pipe over the barbed connection point creating your mechanical seal. Then slide the collar to the edge of the pipe and twist onto the thread pushing the pipe firmly down onto the barb. You can re-use your Nut Lock fittings on multiple occasions due to being able to remove the fittings from your irrigation pipe with ease and without the need of cutting your pipe or the use of tools.
Ultimate Durability
Nut Lock fittings are constructed from high-grade polypropylene with UV-resistant additives, engineered to be long-lasting and robust for ultimate reliability. Due to the size and robust material of the Nut Lock fitting, they are ideal for use in public areas as a quick and easy repair to a damaged pipe/irrigation system or for long-term use.
Time-Saving
Nut Lock fittings do not require you to preheat the irrigation pipe prior to fitting, creating a fast and secure method for repairing damaged pipe in your irrigation system with the added benefit of a no-tools assembly in less than 30 seconds!
Modular in Design
The nut lock tapper and nut can be removed from the body of this nut lock connector. The tapper can then be pushed into the smooth inner shaft of a 1” Male BSP Compression Fitting for the ideal solution when joining MDPE/HDPE underground pipe to above-ground 21mm LDPE Pipe.
Irrigation Fittings Frequently Asked Questions
Why
use a nut lock connector instead of a barbed fitting?
Nut lock connectors arrive complete with a barbed inlet and a nut that compresses the pipe onto the barb promising an extra-secure connection and eliminating the risk of pipe dislocation. This extra level of protection means nut lock connectors can withstand pressures up to 6 bar.
My connector
has a different size printed on the fitting – I have received the wrong product!
The external diameter is printed on the surface of a nut lock fitting however, compatible 21mm LDPE Pipes are quoted by their internal diameter. For easy identification of the compatible pipe, you will see our nut lock connectors listed with their internal diameter because connectors push inside the pipe. As nut lock connections must be tight to ensure a secure, watertight seal, we advise heating the pipe in boiling water before installation to make insertion easier.
What
size connector does my irrigation supply pipe need?
Irrigation pipe is compatible with connectors the same size as the pipe’s internal diameter. For a more secure connection with minimal risk of pipe dislocation, use connectors 1mm larger than the internal diameter of your pipe to ensure a watertight seal.
How
do I connect LDPE/drip line to a garden hose pipe?
The soft PVC structure of a garden hose is not compatible with nut lock fittings as these connectors require the rigid pipe structure of LDPE to lock onto. To connect LDPE pipe to a garden hose, remove the nut and tapper from any 21mm Nut Lock Connector and connect this to a female threaded Quick Click Tap Connector by simply threading them together. Connect the LDPE pipe or drip line to the nut lock outlet and install the Hose Pipe to the quick-click tap connector via a Hose End Connector.
Can
nut lock fittings be used with MDPE or HDPE pipes?
No, nut lock fittings should only be used to connect lengths of LDPE. The wall structure of Medium-Density and High-Density pipe requires fittings that fit the external diameter and should be installed alongside Compression Fittings.
Can
nut lock fittings be buried underground as part of a sprinkler system?
Yes, nut lock fittings are ideal for sub-surface installation up to 15cm and are capable of withstanding bar pressures required for a small domestic underground sprinkler irrigation system.
